Freedom Ride 2025
On Monday, May 5, celebrate freedom on bikes during the Freedom Ride! This unique liberation festival on bikes brings together cyclists and recreational cyclists to explore historic sites connected to our wartime history. This year is extra special as we commemorate 80 years of freedom.
This year's Freedom Ride starts and finishes from two new locations: the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek and the Markt in Arnhem. A unique element of the Freedom Ride is the 135 km peloton ride, the only peloton ride in the Netherlands.
Participants can choose from several distances:
A 70-kilometer peloton ride from Groesbeek, with finish in Arnhem.
A recreational bike ride of 35 kilometers, starting from Groesbeek or Arnhem.
A 135-kilometer peloton ride from Arnhem.
Free tour rides of 85, 115 or 150 kilometers, also from Arnhem.
During the routes, cyclists will pass several historic sites. The recreational tour passes information points with QR codes, which provide more insight into the history of the region.
Remembering and celebrating
Halfway through the march, an impressive ceremony will take place at the Freedom Museum at 12:30 p.m., during which we will reflect together on peace and freedom. This will include speakers and participants will lay down a flower. With current events in the world, freedom cannot be taken for granted. The Freedom Ride provides a moment to reflect on 80 years of freedom and the importance of remembering and celebrating.
