Remembrance Day Municipality of Berg en Dal

On Thursday, May 4, 2023, the Netherlands will pause to remember the victims of war violence. Also in the municipality of Berg en Dal there are several commemoration ceremonies.

Groesbeek

The municipality of Berg en Dal is organizing the commemoration in Groesbeek. The gathering begins at 7 p.m. with a silent march from the town hall in Groesbeek to the Canadian Cemetery of Honor. There, from about 7:40 p.m., the memorial service will take place. This year the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with pipes and drums will provide the music during this commemoration. Mayor Mark Slinkman will be present at this commemoration.

Millingen on the Rhine

The commemoration here begins at 7:15 p.m. with a silent march from the entrance of St. Anthony of Padua Church to the monument at Kulturhus Den Ienloop. There, from 7:30 p.m., the memorial service will be held. Please note: the entire commemoration is outside, the part in the church is cancelled. The organization is in the hands of Mariette ten Westeneind. Alderman Alex ten Westeneind represents the municipality at this commemoration.

Leuth

Stichting 4 mei herdenking Leuth organizes the annual commemoration in Leuth. The commemoration begins at 7 p.m. in the Kulturhus, where music and texts commemorate the Second World War. This is followed at 7:50 p.m. by a silent march to the Church Square. Here the commemoration will continue and flowers will be laid. Alderman Irma van de Scheur will be present on behalf of the municipality.

Brook

Stichting Herdenking Bevrijding Beek is organizing the commemoration in Beek. The commemoration begins at 7:45 p.m. at the monument on the Verbindingsweg. Alderman Erik Weijers takes part in this commemoration.

Ooij

Parish Mary of the Assumption will start the commemoration in Ooij at 7 p.m. with a memorial service in St. Hubertus Church, presided over by Pastor Rudo Franken. Afterwards there will be a short ceremony outside at the war memorial. Councilwoman Ria Barber will attend this commemoration in Ooij.

Berg and Dal

Berg en Dals Bloei Foundation will hold the Remembrance of the Dead at the monument the Needle, on Clarenbeekseweg. This commemoration will begin at 6:30 pm. Council member Remco Hammer represents the municipality at this commemoration.
