Remembrance of the Dead Municipality of Nijmegen
On May 4 we commemorate the dead in Nijmegen on the Keizer Traianusplein. We do this together with the whole of the Netherlands at 8 p.m. Before the clock strikes eight, there are a number of local commemorations in Nijmegen.
6 p.m.: Kitty the Wise place, commemoration of the Jewish victims from Nijmegen, with reading of the names of all Jewish victims.
7 p.m.: Memorial Service St Stevenskerk, with a welcome speech by Mayor Hubert Bruls and a recital by Professor Han van Krieken - Rector magnificus of Radboud University. Pupils of primary school de Buut read poems created by themselves.
7:40 p.m.: Departure of Silent March from St. Steven's Church to Trajan Square.
7:55 p.m.: Commencement commemoration Trajan Square.
8 p.m.: 2 minutes of silence, followed by a speech by Bruls and wreath laying.
