By bicycle on War Trail

80 YEARS OF FREEDOM
WW2 Nijmegen Information Center

On Sunday, May 4, guide Niels organizes in cooperation with the Infocentrum WO2 Nijmegen a thematic bicycle tour. During a tour of about 8 kilometers you will be taken along appealing locations that played a major role in the liberation of Nijmegen during Operation Market Garden in September 1944.

During the bicycle tour, all kinds of facts and stories are told about the human side of Operation Market Garden. Attention will be paid to the courage of soldiers and the personal fortunes of ordinary Nijmegen citizens who suddenly found themselves between two stools, but also to the important role of the Dutch resistance during the battle. Also central is the courageous crossing of the river Waal by American paratroopers, which led directly to the liberation of Nijmegen. The alternation between bicycles, historical footage, documents and props adds even more color to the story of the battle.

The bicycle tour starts at 2 p.m. and ends around 5 p.m. Starting location is the Infocentrum WW2 Nijmegen. Participation costs € 10 p.p. and can only be paid on the spot in cash at the guides. The Museumkaart is not valid.

Registration is required and can be done by emailing welkom@infocentrumwo2.nl. Deadline for registration is Friday, May 2, by 4 p.m.

Please note that in case of bad weather or too few registrations, the bike rides will not take place.
